Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Strategy for CoCuDi Center

At CoCuDi Center, we are committed to building a more tolerant, just, and peaceful society by recognizing and respecting each person’s unique identity and culture. Our DEIJ strategy serves as a roadmap for ensuring that our work is rooted in principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, both within our organization and in the communities we serve.

Vision:

To create an inclusive and equitable environment where every individual—regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances—can thrive, contribute meaningfully, and benefit from CoCuDi’s programs.

Core DEIJ Pillars and Objectives

  1. Diversity:

We celebrate and embrace the unique identities, perspectives, and experiences of all individuals, recognizing diversity as a strength that enhances creativity and innovation.

Objectives:

– Actively seek participation from diverse stakeholders, including underrepresented communities, in our programs and initiatives.

– Partner with organizations and institutions that prioritize and amplify diverse voices, especially in East Africa, the Middle East, and global networks.

– Ensure diverse representation in CoCuDi’s leadership, staff, and advisory bodies, reflecting the communities we serve.

  • Equity:

We work to identify and address systemic barriers that hinder access to resources and opportunities, particularly for marginalized groups.

Objectives:

– Develop programs, such as Pando and VSLA, that directly address inequalities by providing training, financial access, and tools for socio-economic mobility.

– Integrate equity assessments into all programs to ensure fair distribution of resources and benefits.

– Advocate for equitable policies and practices within partner organizations and local communities.

  • Inclusion:

We strive to create environments where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute and participate fully.

Objectives:

– Foster inclusive participation by engaging communities across religious, ethnic, and gender lines, as exemplified in the Namutumba Abayudaya Community’s Agricultural Program

– Ensure CoCuDi events, programs, and materials are accessible to people with varying abilities, languages, and literacy levels.

– Provide staff and partners with regular training on cultural humility, anti-bias practices, and inclusive leadership.

  • Justice:

We commit to addressing structural inequities and fostering systemic change to achieve fairness and equality for all.

Objectives:

– Center marginalized voices in decision-making processes, ensuring that those most affected by inequities shape the solutions.

– Design initiatives that promote long-term social justice, such as the PANDO Creative Platform, which empowers women to achieve financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.

– Advocate for justice-focused policies in collaboration with local and global partners, amplifying grassroots changemakers.

Key Actions and Implementation
